Sintered Wire Mesh vs Woven Filter Cloth: Which One Fits Your Process?

Compare pressure resistance, cleanability, layer structure, and cost when selecting sintered mesh or woven filter cloth for industrial filtration.

These two media solve different filtration problems

Woven filter cloth is often selected when the buyer needs flexible roll material, simpler fabrication, or lower upfront cost. Sintered wire mesh is preferred when the process demands stronger pressure resistance, better dimensional stability, repeated backwashing, or more rigid cartridge construction.

Layer structure changes service behavior

Sintered mesh usually combines multiple layers to create support strength and controlled retention. That structure improves cleanability and mechanical stability, but it also changes price and lead time. Buyers comparing micron rating only will often miss the difference in total service life and maintenance cost.

Quote with process data, not only media grade

  • Define medium, temperature, pressure, and cleaning method.
  • Confirm whether the part must be welded, pleated, or cylinder formed.
  • Compare replacement frequency, downtime cost, and fabrication route.

The better choice is the one that matches the real process cycle, not the one with the lowest first-piece price.
