Welded Wire Basket Fabrication Guide for Storage, Process, and OEM Buyers

Review load, stackability, weld strength, surface finish, and dimensional tolerances before ordering welded wire baskets.

Wire baskets should be quoted as fabricated assemblies

Storage baskets, washing baskets, material handling baskets, and OEM inserts may all use welded wire construction, but they do not share the same fabrication logic. Buyers should define load, stacking method, base support, handle design, and whether the basket is for static storage or repetitive industrial movement.

Weld quality and finish affect performance

Weak welds, rough cut ends, and poor coating or passivation can cause service failure even when the basket dimensions look correct. Buyers should ask whether the basket is made from low carbon steel, galvanized wire, or stainless steel, and how corners, reinforcements, and base rails are built.

Drawings should include use-case details

  • State inside dimensions, load target, stack height, and opening orientation.
  • Confirm finish route, such as zinc plating, powder coat, or stainless passivation.
  • Ask how baskets are nested, palletized, and labeled for export.

A basket that fits the process flow and handling method is more valuable than one that only matches a rough outside size.
