Knitted Wire Mesh for Sealing and Catalyst Support: Buying Basics

Review wire material, knitting density, compression behavior, and finished pad form before ordering knitted wire mesh parts.

Knitted mesh is usually specified for compressibility and surface contact

Knitted wire mesh is used in sealing, filtration support, demisting, catalyst retention, and vibration-related technical applications. Buyers should define whether the mesh must compress, recover, support media, or act as a carrier, because knitted structures behave differently from woven cloth.

Density and formed shape matter more than the raw wire alone

A knitted mesh pad, ring, roll, or formed part may need a specific compression range, density, and material choice. Stainless, Monel, or other alloys may be selected depending on temperature, corrosion, and service environment.

Send the functional duty with the RFQ

  • State whether the part is for sealing, catalyst support, damping, or separation.
  • Confirm wire material, density level, width or diameter, and final formed shape.
  • Ask how the part is packed to preserve compression and cleanliness.

Knitted mesh procurement becomes much clearer when the buyer describes the required mechanical behavior, not only the base material.
